If you are wondering how to earn money using Pinterest or how much money you can make on Pinterest, then you are in the right place.

This story is of my friend, who is a famous blogger who writes about saving, investing, earning, and building net worth.

You might have heard that it’s possible to make money on Pinterest from the influencers who talk about it, but you’ve probably ignored them because you didn’t think it was possible.

Maybe you ignored it because everyone keeps saying how hard it is to make money on Pinterest?

Don’t worry, I’m too just like you.

I didn’t believe her or any other online gurus, who used to say that you can earn a living on Pinterest.

But, trust me you can earn money on Pinterest, I’ll share all the proofs with you. Just stay with me.

You may already know that Pinterest is one of the most popular social networks in the world.

Pinterest has 361+ million monthly active users, trust me you have a lot of potentials to earn money on Pinterest.

You can check her screenshots of her earning from Pinterest:

$48,685.18 from just ONE source (which I talk more about later):

$31,255.47 just from displaying ads on my blog:

I’ll also show her progress in how she went from earning my first $500 using Pinterest as a total beginner to my goal of over $10K per month in less than 2 years.

I’m sure you’re eager to learn how to make money with Pinterest. So, let’s get started.

How to Make Money on Pinterest 2021

When she started using Pinterest, she used to pin her favourite home decor and DIY crafts to her board. She had no idea, that we could make money online using Pinterest.

Later on, she realised that Pinterest is not a SOCIAL MEDIA website, it’s a Search Engine. Just like people use Google for information, they use Pinterest for inspiration and solutions to their problems.

This is where making money on Pinterest becomes possible for you and I’m going to go through everything you’ll want to know about earning money with Pinterest!

How Much Money Can You Make on Pinterest?

How would you react if I told you that you could make $20, $50, $100, or even more than $200 per day on Pinterest?

Also, I would like to tell you that, these side hustle ideas, won’t require any experience.

She started with no experience but eventually learned how to make money on Pinterest.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Make Money on Pinterest

There are two popular ways to make money on Pinterest.

One way is to start a money-making blog (my top recommendation), and the other method doesn’t require a blog, which I talk more about later on.

In both ways, you don’t need any experience.

She herself started with 0 experience and was able to make over $5,000 per month at my own pace within the first year.

But don’t get excited too much, she even struggled to make $500 per month.

She had a lot of self-doubts, she always thought you had to be either really tech-savvy or a great writer to start a blog and make money using Pinterest.

But don’t worry, as long as you have basic computer skills such as typing (which most of us do in 2021) AND you have a strong willingness to learn and actually implement what I’m about to say, then you are ready to start using Pinterest to your advantage.

1. Start a Blog

I would highly recommend you to start a self-hosted blog. I won’t share any affiliate links but would suggest going with Hostinger, they provide cheap and fast hosting.

If you are thinking of going with free options like Blogger or WordPress.com, please stop! DO NOT go that route.

It would be near impossible to make money when you sign up for a free blog because no one will take you seriously.

On top of that, applying to ad networks and affiliate programs will be extremely tough.

2. Write Relevant and Helpful Content

Once you have created the blog, you need to write 5–10 blog posts related to your niche and target audience.

Always write articles that will solve your readers’ problems.

This diagram will help you determine what you can write about while solving your readers’ problems.

Always remember that readers need your help with their problems. Most of them aren’t here to read about your problems. When they land on your page, they will subconsciously ask:

“What’s in it for me?”

Your ideal spot is to hit all these 3 elements (passion, skills, and market demand)!

3. Set Up a Pinterest Business Account

You can start by signing up here. This is 100% free to sign up for and use.

Once you have done, you can follow the instructions here to claim your website on Pinterest. Trust me, it’s idiot-proof. They make it fast and easy to follow their step-by-step instructions!

4. Create Pinterest Boards and Pins

Now it’s time to create some pins and boards. I recommend using Canva to make pins when you’re a beginner. The service is free and easy to use.

Like your bio description from step #3, make sure to sprinkle relevant keywords into your personal boards and pin descriptions.

By the way, when I say “sprinkle” I don’t mean keyword stuffing!

In the past, I’ve made the mistake of stuffing keywords in my pins. It’s no wonder why I wasn’t getting any traffic when I first started. Without any traffic to my blog, there was no way for me to make money on Pinterest, so don’t make the same mistake!

Example of keyword stuffing that you should try to avoid:

Example of a conversational description that sprinkles targeted and relevant keywords:

5. Join Group Boards and Make New Personal Boards Every Month

I recommend joining boards that are relevant to your niche.

I have also heard that Pinterest has shifted its focus to personal boards. In addition to that, Pinterest favours smaller group boards (relevant to your niche) with fewer contributors.

So in that case, focus on creating your personal boards while joining some high-quality group boards with fewer contributors.

Now, everything is completely set up. It’s time to make some money 💸

How to Make Money on Pinterest With a Blog

There are two ways to make money on Pinterest with your blog.

1. Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Pinterest traffic is honestly a new blogger’s BFF!

I strongly recommend new bloggers to use Pinterest, it’s definitely a lot easier and faster way to get traffic.

When Pinterest is used correctly and consistently, you can drive a lot of traffic to your blog and make money through display advertising.

Again, it all depends on the quality of the content on your blog.

You can easily make $6 to $20 per 1,000 page views each day depending on which ad network you choose.

Talking about Ad networks,

How to Make Money on Pinterest With Adsense

You can apply your blog for Adsense approval and can easily make $50 to $200 per month with 10,000 to 40,000 monthly page views.

Here are the Adsense reports:

Aside from Adsense, there are other ad networks you can apply to when you’re a new blogger: Ezoic.

Display Ads With Mediavine

She knew she can earn more from other Ad networks, so she switched from Google Adsense to Mediavine after hitting 25,000 monthly sessions back in July. It takes 3–4 weeks to make the switch.

Mediavine requires your blog to be at least 3–4 months old with a minimum of 25,000 monthly sessions (~$30,000 page views).

As the traffic started growing on her blog, she started earning a passive income online of at least $1,000+ USD per month by displaying ads like the one you see here:

In a day, she used to make around $25 per day with just 1,800 page views.

As she kept growing, she kept earning more and more:

2. How to Make Money on Pinterest With Affiliate Links

You can also make money on Pinterest using affiliate links.

I don’t wanna bore you with teaching affiliate marketing or explaining your affiliate marketing.

I will just explain in few words, affiliate marketing is just recommending products that you love and/or believe will add value to your audience.

After they make a purchase through your affiliate link, you earn a small commission without any additional cost to the buyer.

Here is real proof you can make money on Pinterest with affiliate links by starting a blog:

When she was still a beginner, she used to make over $1,000 from Pinterest using affiliate marketing.

Here are different earning proofs from different Affiliate networks:

How Many Followers Do You Need on Pinterest to Make Money?

People might think that the more followers you have on Pinterest, the more money you will make. This is a myth because it’s not the number of followers that matters, but rather the number of engaged followers.

You can see lots of Pinterest accounts with millions of followers, but they’re not making a lot of money. Some may even make NO money!

On the other hand, I’ve also seen accounts with 3,000, or even less than 1,000 followers who earn good money by using Pinterest and drive traffic back to their blog or page.

If you’re a beginner at using Pinterest, and you’re trying to grow your followers, this is what you need to always keep in mind.

She used to earn over $3,000 per month with less than 2,000 Pinterest followers!

It’s all about attracting high-quality traffic (also known as the right audience or people) to your content and/or the products you’re promoting on Pinterest.

How Do You Get 1,000 Followers on Pinterest?

I will be honest with you, getting the first 1000 followers is a pain in the ass. It won’t happen overnight.

When you’re new and just starting out, I don’t recommend focusing on counting your numbers of followers on Pinterest. That will just distract you from creating quality content and gaining quality followers.

I think it’s better to have 900 devoted followers who promote your work because they believe in it than 10,000 followers who are only following you out of apathy.

People who follow you solely for the sake of following you are not going to convert into sales; thus, it’s better to focus on your true supporters, even if they’re fewer in number.

How to Make Money on Pinterest WITHOUT a Blog

It’s totally fine if you’re not interested in starting a blog. You can still learn how to make money on Pinterest without a blog!

Here are 3 ways to achieve this!

  1. Share the affiliate link directly to the pins, instead of your blog links.
  2. Help business owners manage their Pinterest account.
  3. Sell your own products, such as Courses, Ebooks, Printables, etc

The possibilities are endless! You can even market your consulting services on Pinterest by linking your pins back to your website.

Takeaways:

  1. You can earn a lot more money on Pinterest than you can imagine
  2. All you need is to create beautiful pins and useful content on the blog.
  3. The more value you provide the more successful you are.
  4. BE CONSISTENT!

Keep working hard, you will achieve your goals.
